The identity of the mystery attacker who appeared alongside Swerve Strickland on last night’s December 21 AEW Dynamite has been revealed.
On last night’s show, Rick Ross was on hand to mediate what was supposed to be a meeting between former tag team partners Strickland and Keith Lee.
However, what actually happened was, Strickland had two rather large humans on hand to ambush Lee, who himself is a “big motherf**ker” according to Rick Ross.
One of said rather large humans (not the mystery one) was Parker Boudreaux, who signed with WWE a couple of years ago to much hype and publicity, with him being labelled by some as the “next Brock Lesnar”.
When he debuted on NXT TV, he was packaged as Harland – the silent, bald bodyguard/follower of Joe Gacy.
However, he was released by WWE this past April, before he joined AEW a few months later.
Upon his arrival, he was put in the Trustbusters group along with Ari Daivari and Slim J (and later Sonny Kiss and Jeeves Kay), but it looks like he’s moved on from that to join Strickland’s new group.
The other rather large human – this one covered in face tattoos – was someone no-one recognised.
According to Fightful Select, AEW sources indicated the man was Granden Goetzman, a former baseball player who’d played in the minor league systems for the Tampa Bay Rays, the St Louis Cardinals, and the Houston Astros.
The report noted that Goetzman has actually been with AEW for quite some time ahead of his debut, and has been training at Jay Lethal’s school.
The debut was reportedly planned “at least a couple of weeks” in advance.
Goetzman was backstage at AEW Dynamite as far back as October 10.
At least going by the merch they were wearing, it seems the group of Strickland, Boudreaux and Goetzman (and maybe Rick Ross, although you wouldn’t think he’ll be appearing regularly) will be known as the Mogul Affiliates.
