Can You Knockout The undead?

I’m not going to pretend I haven’t been hyped for Su Yung’s debut since seeing her last week, and she didn’t disappoint.

I predicted in my preview article yesterday that this would be a squash match, and it came as no surprise. I’m not personally a big fan of squash matches because I enjoy the unexpected in wrestling. Watching some giant kill local talent isn’t my idea of a fun time because usually, they don’t even get a strike in.

The introduction to this segment was still a bit strange to me. I don’t really understand why Su Yung would need Braxton Sutter to announce her – their characters seem to be on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Personally, I would team her up with Father James Mitchell while Abyss is slowing down, or even Jimmy Jacobs to form a goth stable.

The only thing I really didn’t like about the production element of this segment was that the first strike of Su Yung was hidden behind a video package of her attack on Allie last week.  As I’ve said before, and I will say later in this article, as a pre-recorded, cut-and-edited show, you really have no excuse for things like this. I understand that this might make it feel more ‘live’, but you aren’t live and there are a lot of advantages you have because of that – use that advantage.

As for my first proper look at Su Yung’s fighting style, beyond her quick attack last week, it appears that she is going to fall in the unpredictable/lunatic style of wrestling. I like this, I think it fits with her character design and is great to see in a female wrestler.

I’m a big fan of the Panic Switch, her finishing move, although I have my reservations how it might look in a longer match. This week I felt like she pulled off the move more smoothly than she did last week, so props to her for that.
