An update on an injury scare for one top star that occurred during the AEW pay-per-view, Double or Nothing 2023.
During the first of two main events on AEW Double or Nothing (May 28), the AEW World Championship was on the line when champ MJF defended against three other competitors.
While in the end MJF ended up besting Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Jungle Boy Jack Perry to retain his title, during one spot in the match things looked precarious.
As commentary noted, MJF hit a move in homage to the late Chris Candido, the Blonde Bombshell, and appeared to injure his forearm.
While MJF continued to sell the injury throughout the match, some speculated further if he was legitimately injured after appearing at the AEW Double or Nothing post-show media scrum with his arm wrapped and mentioning that no one had asked if he was okay.
However good news today comes from PWInsider Elite (via Wrestling News.co) on Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s condition.
According to the report, while MJF’s forearm is ‘banged up’ it is actually from when Darby Allin landed on MJF’s arm during a top rope powerbomb spot but there is good news.
Gratefully, MJF’s arm is not broken and he is not expected to miss any in-ring time.
Since MJF had an incredulous reaction to the suggestion he would be wrestling at Forbidden Door 2023, perhaps we won’t see another MJF match until… Hmm, anything else happening in June in AEW?
