NJPW’s The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street took place on October 27, and a certain AEW World Champion made an appearance.
Jon Moxley competed in an unannounced elimination 12-man tag team match and shared the ring with some top NJPW names.
Jon Moxley joined Homicide, YOH, Amazing Red, Kazuchika Okada and AEW’s Eddie Kingston to face off against El Phantasmo, Tom Lawlor, Royce Isaacs, Jorel Nelson, Juice Robinson and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White.
The match stipulated that wrestlers could be eliminated by pinfall, submission or by going over the top rope.
As fate would have it, the match culminated in a face-off between IWGP World Heavyweight Champion vs AEW World Champion.
Moxley ultimately scored the victory for his side, with an assist from Eddie Kingston.
Jon Moxley is the current AEW World champion and recently signed a lucrative five-year extension with AEW and has addressed his plans to work on the independent circuit. He will be defending his AEW title against MJF, winner of the Casino Royale, at AEW Full Fear on November 19.
Jay White is currently preparing to defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4, 2023.
