TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace has recalled the conversation which led to her making her WWE debut at Royal Rumble 2024.
Grace was one of the surprise entrants in this year’s women’s Royal Rumble, entering in the #5 spot and surviving for 19 minutes ahead of her elimination at the hands of Bianca Belair.
Per previous reports, WWE reached out to TNA in the weekend before the premium live event, leading to Grace having physical and blood tests on the Monday (January 22), ahead of Royal Rumble rehearsals in Florida on Thursday (January 25), which she participated in.
TNA Wrestling has now shared a video of Jordynne Grace recalling the moment she found out that she’d be competing in the WWE Royal Rumble match.
Recalling TNA President Scott D’Amore’s sarcastic response when she asked for more details, she said:
“Scott (D’More) called me, I’d actually just landed from our tapings that we did in Orlando. I was waking up and he called and was like ‘how would you feel about wrestling this weekend?’
“I was just thinking to myself ‘what does he want me to do?’ He was like ‘how would you feel about being in the Rumble?’ I was like ‘what? What are you talking about?
“I was like ‘did they ask?’ And then he goes ‘no, they didn’t ask, I just want you to be there and just jump the barricade.’ Honestly to me, that was more realistic than WWE calling TNA and being like ‘can your women’s champion be in our Royal Rumble. (laughs)”
