Bryan Danielson has received the first ever 5-star match rating of his career, which means his average match rating in AEW is 5 stars. Not bad.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer awarded the match the illusive 5-star rating.
The match drew high praise from around the wrestling world, and there will be very few who argue with the rating the match has been given.
Amazingly, it wasn’t the highest rated match of the week, as the G1 Climax match between Tomohiro Ishii and Shingo Takagi was awarded a 5.5 star rating, making it one of the best matches of the year in terms of Meltzer star ratings.
While Omega tweeted after his match with Bryan Danielson that there would be no rematch, and while this is almost certainly not going to be the case, it does make you wonder what kind of star rating a match with no time limit between the two men could achieve.
