Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fénix announced for Northeast Wrestling

Kenny Omega will go one on one with lucha libre star Rey Fénix on November 9 in Poughkeepsie, New York for Northeast Wrestling.

Kenny Omega defeated Rey Fénix’s brother Pentagón Jr. at All In on September 1, and now Fénix will attempt to do what his brother couldn’t – beat the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

That was the first time Kenny Omega had wrestled Pentagón Jr. in a singles match, and this upcoming bout will be the first time he will face Fénix in a singles match as well.

Prior to these two matches, Omega’s only encounter with the Lucha Brothers came at the PWG Battle of Los Angeles in 2017, when he teamed with the Young Bucks to face Pentagón, Fénix, and Flamita.

Fénix is the current AAA Heavyweight Champion, having won the title at TripleMania XXVI in August. He also competed in the main event of All In, when he teamed with Rey Mysterio and Bandido to face the Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi.

The only other times were Strong Style EvolvedWrestleConSupercard of Honor XIICEO X NJPW: When Worlds Collide, G1 Special in San Francisco, and All In.

Omega most recently defended his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Tomohiro Ishii at Destruction in Hiroshima.

Former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam is also advertised to appear at the event, along with PCO, Darby Allin, JT Dunn, and Brad Hollister.

Tickets for the show go on sale September 21, and meet and greets for Kenny Omega, Rey Fénix, and Rob Van Dam are on sale now.
