Kurt Angle Says AEW Star Should Have Been A ‘Main Event Wrestler’ In WWE WWE

Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has identified a veteran name in AEW as someone who should have reached the top of the mountain in WWE.

Speaking on his Kurt Angle Show podcast, Angle reflected on the missed potential of Christopher Daniels during his time in TNA and his bemusement at why he was never really picked up by WWE.

Angle said:

“Oh yeah. He was the best-kept secret in the company that that kid could do anything.

“I’m not gonna lie to you about this. He was just about every bit as good as AJ once.

“He was a heavyweight wrestler. He was an X-Division wrestler. He could talk on the microphone just as well as anybody else.

“He had all the skills to be a main event wrestler for the WWE. He really did. And I’m not sure why it never occurred for him. Chris was always underutilized no matter where he went.”

Aside from a stint in WWE’s developmental between 1998-2001, Daniels never had a genuine run in the company, instead spending the last two decades in TNA, ROH and finally AEW.

The 53-year-old still competes fairly regularly, primarily for Tony Khan’s ROH brand, while also working behind the scenes in AEW’s talent relations department.
