It was revealed tonight on NXT that Alex Shelley will be Kushida’s partner in the Dusty Rhodes Classic currently happening on NXT. This is a huge reunion between Shelley and Kushida.
Kushida and Alex Shelley were a very successful tag team in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The duo captured the NJPW Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles twice during their time as a team.
Last night, many were speculating Shelley would be his partner. In classic wrestling form, he denied the rumors.
Everybody seems to think Kushi needs me. Kushi and I, and The Bucks, and Forever Hooligans, and ReDragon, helped change @njpw1972’s jr. tag division. But really, he’s going to be awesome with any partner. Meanwhile, @RealKevinNash and I are looking for PCS participants…

Shelley has been a part of two iconic tag teams. He, of course, was part of the Motor City Machine Guns with Chris Sabin.
Shelley and Kushida, who were announced as The Time Splitters, take on the Grizzled Young Vets next week. This may be a one-off appearance for the veteran.

There is no word on Alex Shelley’s contract status at this time. Shelley most recently wrestled with Ring of Honor.
At this point, it seems he’s at least agreed to appear for as long as his team is alive in the Dusty Rhodes Classic. Personally, here’s to hoping we get to see Undisputed Era vs. The Timesplitters at some point in NXT.
We’ll have more on this story as it develops.
