A new update has revealed a change of plans pertaining to a match on the September 4 edition of WWE Raw, involving a top star who was glaringly absent from the show.
These plans, according to PWInsider, involved former co-holder of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Kevin Owens.
During Raw, it was stated in the opening segment by Sami Zayn that his tag team partner Owens wasn’t present, and he didn’t appear on the show at all from that point on.
However, according to PWInsider, Owens was in fact backstage at the show in Charlotte, NC and was at one point “late in the day” was planned to face JD McDonagh in singles a singles match.
However, plans would end up being changed and Raw instead featured Zayn vs McDonagh, and, as mentioned, Owens didn’t appear.
It’s unclear as to why Owens’ plans were changed on the night, but we’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
Despite Owens’ absence, Zayn did reunite with one former ally on Raw, that being the newest recruit for the red brand ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso.
