Ricky Starks vs. Swerve Strickland

Starks defeats Strickland to retain his FTW Championship in this exciting match highlighting why the AEW roster is stacked throughout as, by the end of a post-match angle, it has devolved into a big man mega brawl with the addition of Powerhouse Hobbs and Keith Lee. Starks received plenty of hometown support but the finish involved a referee distraction and interference by Hobbs. Keith Lee joined the fray when he threw a guy through a banner being held up proclaiming that Austin, TX loves Starks.

QT Marshall’s “Certificate of Accomplishment” for Hook

This segment was the wholesome goofery you might expect it to be – Marshall invites Hook to the ring, presents him with the framed certificate (Aaron Solo is there, he shoots off a confetti gun) which Hook promptly rejects by driving Aaron Solo’s face into the frame, breaking it and casually walking off with peak Hook swag. Meanwhile when Hook nears the top of the ramp, Danhausen comes out to curse him but suprise! It doesn’t phase Hook at all, he just walks by leaving Danhausen totally flummoxed.

Nyla Rose vs. Madi Wrenkowski

In a fast match, Rose takes out Madi Wrenkowski (a Mission Pro student of Thunder Rosa) in short order after an exchange of video packages with Thunder Rosa in a continuation of their feud.

Dark Order’s 10 (Preston Vance) and 5 (Alan Angels) vs. reDRagon

Match gets going without entrances with the action rolling on during a picture in picture commercial break shortly thereafter. After a good showing by the Dark Order, they eventually fell to the heels.

In a post-match angle, reDRagon is beating down the Dark Order when Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Christian Cage ran out to defend them, during which Adam Cole snuck up and snatched the tag team belts, leaving with them up the ramp and stealing the belts and giving them to reDRagon!

Fuego Del Sol is in the ring, this kid in pink held his own against House of Black! You people! You believed in my heart, you believed in my fight – House of Black, Austin, Texas – I am ready to fight! Uh oh, the lights cut out and Buddy Matthews, Brody King and Malakai Black appear under their own spotlights already in the ring. Matthews launches Fuego into a knee strike from Black while King lands a vicious Fire Thunder Driver, madness. As they leave the ring, Dark Order meets them on the ramp as Black yells, “this is what you want?!” as Evil Uno nods and they go tend to Fuego.

Dustin Rhodes vs. Lance Archer

Big man action to kick off this big show! Dustin Rhodes picks up the pinfall victory but any joy is short-lived as Lance Archer immediately throws Rhodes into the ring stairs, completely busting him open. A bevy of “students from Dustin’s wrestling school” get the big boots from Archer as he sets Dustin up for a dramatic slam through a table with the Murderhawk mugging directly into the camera.

Jericho adds an interesting element on commentary given his character shift punctuating the end of the segment by saying, this is what happens when you’re a pro wrestler! If you were a sports entertainer like me and the Jericho Appreciation Society you wouldn’t be lying in a pile of blood and broken furniture!
