AEW Rampage Live Results – May 20, 2022 AEW

It’s Friday, you know what that means! It’s time for more AEW Rampage! Again at an earlier timeslot, this time at 7pm EST, one hour before SmackDown!

Announced for tonight’s show, we have:

  • Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson vs. Dante Martin & Matt Sydal
  • Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Quarter-Final – Red Velvet vs. Kris Statlander
  • House of Black vs. Evil Uno, 10 & Fuego Del Sol
  • Shawn Spears vs. “A Giant”
  • Scorpio Sky demands the return of the TNT Championship
  • We hear from Danhausen & HOOK

It's time for the main event

Before the main event, we get the obligatory pre-match promo. Dante Martin and Matt Sydal are squaring off with Moxley and Bryan Danielson. Also, we get a promo from Jade Cargill. William Regal is on commentary. He and Jericho bicker back and forth. The match at DON will be called Anarchy in the Arena.

While Dante Martin has been impressive, he’s getting destroyed in this one. Danielson and Moxley are just beating him up. He finally tags out and Matt Sydal fairs a bit better. We cut to commercial and BCC continue to dominate.

As we come back, Dante Martin is in high gear hitting his high speed attacks. Eventually, Moxley catches Sydal in a sleeper on the outside. Inside, Danielson hits an Avanlanche Double Underhook Suplex. He locks in the Labell Lock, transitions into a Crossface, and Martin makes it to the rope. I thought that was it for sure.

Danielson gets up and unleashes the Yes kicks on Martin. He tags in Moxley. Moxley, surprisingly, makes a mistake and gets caught in a bunch of double team moves. Martin hits a huge double jump moonsault and takes out Moxley. Moxley goes for a Paradigm Shift. Martin counters. Mox then catches him in a sleeper, but Martin reverses into a pin.

Dante is getting made in this one. Moxley hits him with a huge piledriver. Martin kicks out. Danielson and Moxley then each get a man and drill him with loads of repeating elbows. Finally, Moxley hits Paradigm Shift and gets the win.

Blackpool Combat Club gets the hard-fought victory. After the match, JAS attack. Kingston, Ortiz, and Santana make the save. All the men battle as the show goes off the air.

The Women's Owen Tournament

Red Velvet and Kris Statlander are squaring off in the Owen. These two former friends are doing battle. Early on, Statlander is impressive. She does an overhead press slam with ONE ARM.

Ruby Soho is on commentary scouting. The winner will face her in the next round. Cargill, Sterling, and Hogan are ringside.

After the commercial, they trade near falls. The two went back and forth trading reversals. Statlander guys for a big move, but Red Velvet reverses it into a roll-up. Statlander reverses the roll-up and gets the pin.

After the match, Cargill and the baddies attack Statlander. Soho runs down to make the save. The numbers are too big to overcome. Finally, Anna Jay comes down and makes the save.

We cut to a video segment about Hook-hausen and Tony Nese/Sterling working out. We also get an in-ring promo from the Men of The Year. The angle that no one cares about just keeps going and going. Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti destroy the TNT title. They start making out and Kaz appears to hit the title with a sledgehammer. Why? Why?

The Giant Killer?

When did Shawn Spears become known as The Giant Killer? He’s taking on a mystery opponent and it’s Big Damo. If you aren’t aware, that’s Killian Dain.

Big Damo got in a little early offense, but the match was over quickly. Spears hit the C4. He makes the pin. Damo is done early.

Spears grabs a mic and tells Wardlow he’s the one getting locked in the cage with him instead of the other way around. They are facing off in the cage on Dynamite next week.

We cut backstage to The Brandon Cam. The Undisputed Elite cut a promo about their opponents. O’Reilly brags about beating Fenix and hurting Sting. Cole promises to win the Owen and they all talk about facing each other in the finals. The Young Bucks officially challenge The Hardys to a match at DON.

The Dark Order vs. The House of Black

Fuego and The Dark Order take on The House of Black. Representing The Dark Order are 10 and Uno. I miss Stu Grayson.

Uno starts off. 10 is in next. Eventually, Fuego tags himself in and loses all momentum Dark Order had created. After taking a massive beating, including an arm breaker that was intended to be a message to Penta, Fuego finally gets out of the ring.

We get a nice flurry of triple-team action before we cut to commercial. When we come back, Fuego is back in. We get a really nice match. The HOB work over 10’s leg for a while. Eventually, Brody King hits the Gonzo Bomb and pins Uno for the victory.

After the match, Penta’s music hits and Death Triangle is on the ramp. They reveal a tombstone with The House of Black engraved on it. We’re getting a 6-man match at Double or Nothing.

Backstage, The Gunn Club and Max Caster show Bowens being hurt and promise a scissors party. I don’t get this grouping.

Anywho, The House of Black seems to be missing something to put them over the edge. They just haven’t quite found the sweet spot yet.
