FULL RECAP – WWE Crown Jewel 2022 Press Conference

WWE is about to hold a press conference for the WWE Crown Jewel 2022 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – we’ll have all the updates right here.

Just as a reminder, here’s the announced card for Crown Jewel:

PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE UPDATES (keep refreshing this page for updates)

Press conference to commence at 10am ET
Well it’s now seven minutes later and it hasn’t started. Yay!
It is now 10:12 and it’s not started yet, I promise I’ll be posting updates when it does
It still hasn’t started so I shall update you on the PDC Players Championship 29 darts tournament instead – Jermaine Wattimena is currently 4-3 up against Andrew Gilding
Gilding has leveled it up at 4-4. Still no Crown Jewel press conference yet
Wattimena back up at 5-4, it’s first to 6 so we could have an upset on our hands here. Speaking of upset, I am upset that the Crown Jewel press conference still hasn’t started 20 minutes after it was supposed to
WWE has just changed the start time for the press conference to 10:30
Gilding has taken out double 1 to make it 5-5 so we’re into a last leg decider in the darts
THE PRESS CONFERENCE IS STARTING, SO EVEN THOUGH THEY CHANGED IT TO 10:30, IT’S NOW STARTING AT 10:20
Michael Cole introduces us to press conference and gets chants from fans in attendance
After an introduction from Maggle, he welcomes out Paul Levesque (Triple H) and Stephanie McMahon
(Wattimena won the darts, btw)
Stephanie McMahon says Saudi Arabia is a “beautiful country”
Stephanie brings out His Excellency, who says some stuff in Arabic, and is then presented with his own WWE Championship belt. He had some cool music, so that’s something
Triple H then talks about how wrestling in Saudi Arabia feels like WrestleMania, and says WWE stars such as Braun Strowman, Bianca Belair, Logan Paul and Roman Reigns (who of course got the biggest reaction of them all) are excited to be there
HHH asks Saudi Arabia “ARE YOU READY”, then passes back to Maggle, who runs down the card for Crown Jewel
Maggle almost called the OC, “the Ucey”
We’re going to be having a weigh-in for Omos vs Strowman as part of the press conference
Jake Paul has been added to the Crown Jewel main event match graphic in Logan Paul’s corner, so that confirms that in case there was still any doubt
Maggle brings out Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss and Asuka – Asuka is very over with the Saudi fans
Belair, Bliss and Asuka’s opponents for Crown Jewel, Damage CTRL, have been brought out as well
Belair and Bayley do some verbal back-and-forth – Bayley seems more popular with the fans than Belair
The two tag teams stand either side of Triple H on the stage for a photo op, and they don’t get physical
Belair and Bayley do the same, and they didn’t get physical either. Someone is going to at some point, probably a good idea to save it rather than doing it for the very first match
Strowman and Omos are going to be out next, and their bit is going to include a weigh-in
Just to confirm, Omos does not have MVP with him. He looks great in a suit though. He put his hand on Maggle’s face instead of shaking his hand which was quite hilarious
Strowman is wearing a very shiny jacket
Omos says “monsters are not real, but giants are”
The Saudi fans love themselves some Braun Strowman
Omos is about to step on the scale, although he is wearing his suit so I’m not sure how fair that is
Omos’ weight is announced as 416.6 pounds
Strowman’s weight is announced as 335 pounds
There was some shoving and shouting during the photo op between Omos and Strowman, but not a full-on brawl
We’re onto the main event guys now. Maggle is about to bring out Roman Reigns, but Paul Heyman cuts him off and introduces Reigns himself
Reigns comes out on his own, no Sami Zayn (who isn’t expected to be there), no Usos (who will be defending the tag title), and no Solo Sikoa
Ucey chants from the Saudi fans
Logan Paul comes out riding a camel
More Ucey chants from the Saudis – Reigns gets a pop for saying Michael Cole isn’t very Ucey
The fans chant “we want Prime” (Logan and KSI’s energy drink) and Logan says it’ll be coming to Saudi soon
Oh, there’s a KSI chant now too
Logan Paul says Roman isn’t the only one with a bloodline, which brings out his younger brother Jake Paul, who was on the graphic earlier so it wasn’t really a surprise but oh well
Jake says Logan is going to do Roman what Jake did to Anderson Silva (beat him)
The Usos and Solo are out now, no Sami
The Usos get in Logan and Jake’s faces – perhaps a match for down the line somewhere
Loud “we want Sami” chants from the Saudi fans, Reigns says they don’t deserve Sami and gets massive boos
For those who don’t know, Sami has never traveled to Saudi Arabia with WWE due to his Syrian heritage
That concludes the press conference after the Logan/Roman photo op and Reigns shutting down the Saudi fan’s hopes of seeing Sami
There was also a photo op with Logan, Jake and Triple H together before Michael Cole officially drew the conference to a close
