Major AEW Star Match In Jeopardy Following Injury? AEW

Bryan Danielson finds himself once again on the sidelines in AEW after he suffered a broken orbital bone during his Collision match with Andrade El Idolo.

Danielson’s injury was initially believed to have taken place during he and Claudio Castagnoli’s tag team main event against Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, but that turned out to not be the case.

AEW ran the injury angle with Bryan following the show, with him now set to undergo surgery, and is expected to miss the remainder of 2023.

The main event against Okada and Cassidy was assumed to have been done to set up a rematch between the two for NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom event on January 4, but the injury may have thrown that into disarray.

On this week’s show, Claudio cut a promo on Okada, where he said that he was coming for him, even teasing that he would face off against him in Japan.

In an update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer, Bryan’s injury may have kept him out of Wrestle Kingdom, with Claudio likely being set up as a replacement for Bryan against Okada on the show should Bryan not be cleared.

Bryan isn’t the only top AEW star to suffer an injury recently, with both Jon Moxley and Adam Cole also both suffering recent injuries.

The injuries to Cole, Moxley and Danielson was said to have caused a big change in plans in the company.
