There has been a major update on WWE’s internal belief about signing AEW World Champion MJF amid his upcoming contract expiration.
Current AEW World Champion MJF has been rather public about the expiration date of his current AEW contract, with him often preaching the ‘Bidding War of 2024’ on AEW television.
The future of MJF has been a question many fans have been asking ahead of the new year, and we may now have our answer on where he will be wrestling next year.
Per Haus of Wrestling, one higher-up WWE source stated that there have been ‘zero talks’ between the company and MJF, with the belief from several WWE sources being that he has already quietly re-signed with AEW.
It was further noted that the idea that MJF is set to enter free agency imminently is a ‘false narrative’, with them believing he has re-signed into 2027.
One WWE source was quoted as saying that the 2024 storyline ‘is a completely in his head storyline’.
Another WWE source stated that they ‘1000%’ believe he’s re-signed, saying ‘I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.’
AEW has yet to comment on the future of MJF and his contract status.
