Malakai Black has now been pulled from an independent wrestling event due to health issues.
On Instagram, Northeast Wrestling confirmed that AEW’s Jay Lethal and former WWE star Real1/nZo (fka Enzo Amore) will instead be appearing at their September 9 show, writing:
“Due to health issues @malakaiblxck will not be appearing for @northeastwrestling @mvscrappers this Friday night at Eastwood Field in #nilesohio
Replacing him are @aew star @thelethaljay & @real1 fka NZO!!”
Black last wrestled at All Out on September 4, teaming with Brody King & Buddy Matthews to lose to the team of Darby Allin, Miro & Sting. According to fans in attendance, the House of Black members hugged after the bout, and Malakai Black bowed, hinting at his departure.
Previous reports have indicated that Black is done with the company for the foreseeable future, with some talent reportedly stating that Black has been granted his ‘highly conditional’ release. Per this report, talent believe that there are ‘heavy restrictions’ on Black, and that there may be more to the agreement, such as conditions that would prevent him from wrestling for other promotions. AEW and Black have yet to confirm this.
We will continue to provide updates on Black as they become available.
