Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, it’ll have been hard to miss the rumor and innuendo that indie sensation Matt Riddle was close to signing for WWE.
For many fans it would be a dream move, and today that moved a step closer with Ringside News reporting that the deal is, in fact, done:
It was reported to us that Riddle has signed a 3-year deal with WWE and he will be in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Riddle will soon be a focal point in NXT much like Adam Cole. The value of his contract wasn’t disclosed but it’s enough to make him give up his indie lifestyle.
With the site reporting three independent sources close to Riddle having confirmed the deal, it seems that we’re indeed edging closer to seeing the former MMA star make his first appearance on WWE TV, with their NXT brand.
Riddle had lived up to his name by recently canceling various independent dates, before signing up to appear for Progress Wrestling, a company that has a strong affiliation with WWE.
