More Details On Kazuchika Okada Becoming Free Agent & More On WWE, AEW Interest AEW

In a new backstage report, more details on Kazuchika Okada’s departure from NJPW and the possibility the top star is headed to WWE or AEW.

A new report from Fightful Select notes that Kazuchika Okada seemingly recently informed NJPW of his intention to leave the company.

With NJPW sources noting surprise that the announcement has occurred this week rather than next, after a recent sit down between the two signs it seemingly ended with the understanding that Okada was not going to re-sign with the company.

The report from Fightful Select doesn’t have any specifics regarding what company Okada may be headed to next, mentioning WWE, AEW and TNA.

Okada recently has had a stint with TNA which was described to have gone positively.

There has also been expressed interest from WWE and AEW although the report notes it remains ‘too soon to tell’.

While sources within WWE were expecting there to be minimally a conversation with Okada, AEW sources noted that they were interested in speaking to him as well.

Elsewhere in clues that could mean nothing or everything, Tony Khan sent two intriguing Tweets today, a rather generic one excited about AEW’s future in 2024 and another specifically using a gif from The Wire.

You can see the tweets below and start deep diving into The Wire lore, making professional wrestling territory war comparisons of your own from there to decide whether or not these mean anything for yourself!

Kazuchika Okada remains a NJPW Champion, the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champion along with Tomohiro Ishii and Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Yes, the same Hiroshi Tanahashi that was recently announced as the new President of NJPW.
