Naomi Addresses Report About Wrestling Future WWE

Former SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi, real name Trinity Fatu, has now addressed a major report about her wrestling future.

Fatu hasn’t appeared for WWE since walking out on a WWE Raw taping in May 2022, alongside Sasha Banks.

Banks has since debuted for Bushiroad promotions NJPW and STARDOM, wrestling as Mercedes Mone.

With Fatu previously indicating that she’s no longer with WWE, it was heavily speculated that the popular star will soon make an appearance for one of the Japanese promotions.

It was reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Bushiroad hasn’t signed Fatu because the company is trying to keep costs down, with Meltzer writing:

“The hard part about a longer commitment is that Bushiroad’s wrestling division, even though Stardom has grown greatly, has overall taken a major financial hit because of New Japan’s declines related to the pandemic, even with New Japan World up.

“Because of that, the wrestling division is under pressure to keep spending down. An example is that they were told they could bring in Trinity Fatu, but it was felt it would cost too much for the return and thus far hadn’t made that deal.”

Fatu has taken to her Instagram story to share this, writing ‘not true’ over the report.

There’s a lot of speculation surrounding Mercedes Mone’s future too, ahead of her IWGP Women’s Championship defence against Mayu Iwatani this Sunday.

Mone recently addressed rumors about her contract status, which you can read about right here.
