Just a couple of weeks ago, Fightful Select reported WWE was very interested in bringing back former tag team champions FTR, whose AEW contracts reportedly expire in 2023, with an option of an extra year.
Interestingly, a new report from Ringside News, who have had a number of recent reports verified by Dave Meltzer and others, suggests WWE is no longer interested in seeing Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, or Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder as they were called in WWE, return.
The report is that people within WWE think FTR are mid-carders who complain too much, who don’t appeal to WWE’s target audience.
“They are seen as mid-carders who just complain, both internally and to the media, and they’re not seen as appealing to a worldwide audience past the hardcores who are too busy giving star ratings for matches.”
Ringside News added they heard FTR had actually “tried to float interest in returning through Edge,” but it turns out there wasn’t any.
Of course these are conflicting reports, but that doesn’t necessarily mean one of the reports is untrue. Things may simply have changed over the past couple of weeks.
