NJPW’s Hiroshi Tanahashi Comments On AEW Dynamite Appearance AEW

NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi has commented on his appearance on Wednesday’s (June 1) AEW Dynamite.

On the show, FTR & AEW World Champion CM Punk defeated Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn & Max Caster in 6-man tag team action.

The trio’s celebration was interrupted by Tanahashi’s entrance music, before the Ace posed on the stage.

Following the confrontation, Tanahashi took to Twitter to comment on the upcoming crossover show, noting:

I have a key to open the #ForbiddenDoor ? #njpw #AEW

Tanahashi notably coined the term ‘Forbidden Door’ ahead of his Wrestle Kingdom 14 bout with Chris Jericho, suggesting that if he was to defeat Jericho, he’d ‘open the Forbidden Door’ and challenge for the AEW World Title on Dynamite.

While Tanahashi came up short against Jericho during their 2020 non-title bout, the Ace appears to be set to challenge for the gold during the June 26 AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door crossover show.

CM Punk won the AEW World Title during last weekend’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, pinning Hangman Page for the gold in the main event of the show.
