
NJPW has now announced the schedule for the 2022 New Japan Cup, set to kick off in March.
The tournament will begin on March 2, during the NJPW 50th Anniversary event, with the final set for March 27 in Osaka-Jo Hall.
Here is the announced schedule for the tournament:
- March 2 – Nippon Budokan (Tokyo)
- March 6 – Big Palette Fukushima (Fukushima)
- March 9 – Korakuen Hall (Tokyo)
- March 10 – Aimesse Yamanashi (Yamanshi)
- March 12 – Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium (Aichi)
- March 13 – Baycom General Gymnasium (Hyogo)
- March 14 – Takamatsu City Gymnasium 1st Stadium (Kagawa)
- March 15 – Zip Arena Okayama (Okayama)
- March 17 – Twin Messe Shizuoka South Building (Shizuoka)
- March 18 – Korakuen Hall (Tokyo)
- March 20 – Aore Nagaoka (Niigata)
- March 21 – Aore Nagaoka (Niigata)
- March 26 – Osaka-Jo Hall (Osaka)
- March 27 – Osaka-Jo Hall (Osaka)
the 2021 tournament was won by Will Ospreay, who went on to defeat Kota Ibushi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis.
Shingo Takagi will defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Kazuchika Okada on the first night of Wrestle Kingdom 16. Will Ospreay will challenge for the gold on night two. You can view the cards for the first two nights of Wrestle Kingdom 16 here.
