No-One Except Sammy Guevara Has Done This In AEW AEW

In the history of All Elite Wrestling, there has only been one man to do this thing in AEW: Sammy Guevara. Find out what it is!

After last night’s AEW Battle of the Belts VII concluded, Sammy Guevara’s reign as king of the special edition shows continued.

If you will recall, Sammy Guevara is actually the only person to ever win a championship at an AEW Battle of the Belts special.

At the first Battle of the Belts, he was meant to wrestle Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship in January 2022.

However, when Cody was out of action with illness and unable to compete, instead Sammy Guevara competed against Dustin Rhodes on Battle of the Belts I to become the Interim TNT Championship holder.

Later that month Sammy would beat Cody in a ladder match to unify the belts and become the Undisputed TNT Champion.

By the time Battle of the Belts II came around though, Guevara had lost the belt to Scorpio Sky previously and was seeking to get back his title.

When Guevara beat Sky at Battle of the Belts II it was the first and subsequently has remained the only time that a challenger won a belt on a ‘Battle of the Belts’ show.

The other nineteen title defenses featured over the seven editions of Battle of the Belts were all in favor of the champ.

Guevara did not compete on last night’s edition of Battle of the Belts VII (July 15) however he could be set for action on an upcoming edition of AEW Collision soon.

On this week’s Dynamite, the team of MJF and Adam Cole will take on the team of Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia to determine who wins the AEW ‘Blind’ Eliminator Tag Team Tournament.

The winners of said final will go on to get a title shot against FTR at AEW Collision on July 29.
