NXT Call-Ups Dominate Raw

Ember Moon

Moon will be an extremely interesting one to watch on the main roster, especially after she was given such a big “rub” working with the likes of Mickie James, Bliss and the new WWE Raw Women’s Champions, Nia Jax – on a side note, how lovely was it to hear the “You deserve it” chant for Nia?

After losing the NXT Women’s Championship to Shayna Baszler at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans over the weekend, it was relatively unclear what direction the ‘Shenom’ could go in down on the black and yellow brand so a call-up for her couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s also worth noting that having her on Raw will hopefully keep her away from her longtime rival Asuka, provided the ‘Empress’ stays on SmackDown Live after her shocking loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. I can only hope that next year’s ‘Show of Shows’ will have Asuka vs. Moon for the Raw Women’s Championship with Moon finally overcoming her nemesis.

There has been some worry with NXT call-ups in the past about how they will be portrayed on the main roster (see Bayley) and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about Ember’s werewolf styled persona getting over with a casual audience. Her top-rope half-corkscrew stunner finisher, known as the Eclipse, could very quickly become the most popped-for move on Raw and I can’t wait to see it again.
