WWE has confirmed that the first special for the NXT brand in 2023 will be NXT New Year’s Evil.
At the December 10 NXT Deadline event, WWE announced that the January 10 edition of NXT will be a New Year’s Evil special.
Some big matches have already been confirmed for the upcoming special episode.
At NXT Deadline, Roxanne Perez and Grayson Waller won their respective Iron Survivor bouts.
This means that Perez and Waller are now the #1 contenders to the NXT Women’s and NXT championships respectively.
In the post show press conference, Shawn Michaels confirmed that Perez will challenge for Mandy Rose’s women’s title, and Waller will battle Bron Breakker for the NXT Title at New Year’s Evil.
Also at New Year’s Evil, another NXT star will make their return.
There have been two New Year’s Evil events in the past.
At the first, which took place on January 6, 2021, Finn Balor defended the NXT Championship against Kyle O’Reilly.
At this year’s show in January, Bron Breakker defeated Tommaso Ciampa to win the NXT Title.
