An NXT star has described the vibe backstage when the show took on AEW Dynamite head-to-head on a rare Tuesday overlap.
NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov reflected on the recent Tuesday night showdown and commented on the ‘inspirational’ vibe backstage at NXT.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Dragunov said:
“…The vibe was very very interesting because everybody felt that there is something historical happening on this day.
“The people on this brand put so much hard work so we’re like creating the best versions of ourselves every single time on TV, getting the attention of the people.
“And those icons of the business coming to this iconic show, pushing everything to the next level, I think everybody just gets more hungrier for this because we see what’s possible.
“We see what we can achieve together. We can reach our fullest potential, and the whole day just being around people, these people with amounts of pure knowledge, it was a historical, inspirational day at work for the entire brand.”
While Ilja Dragunov may be putting his NXT Championship on the line against Carmelo Hayes at NXT Halloween Havoc, the mystery of who attacked Trick Williams last week remains unsolved.
Williams had been added to the triple-threat match to determine who would face Dragunov at Halloween Havoc by Cody Rhodes as his last NXT GM act, but Williams was attacked backstage and was unable to compete in the match after all.
Carmelo Hayes won the match against Baron Corbin and Dijak to win the title shot against Dragunov.
