It appears that WWE might be setting up a match featuring two NXT stars against Raw’s Judgment Day faction.
On last night’s June 20 episode of NXT, Seth Rollins defended and retained his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker, but was then attacked by Judgment Day member Finn Balor after the match.
Rollins and Balor are of course set to face each other at Money in the Bank on July 1 in London for Rollins’ championship.
However, Balor’s attack last night was thwarted by two very interesting names.
Running out to help Rollins and chase Balor away were Trick Williams and NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes.
Williams and Hayes stayed in the ring with Rollins as the show went off the air, and Hayes has even shared a photo taken with Rollins backstage with them both holding their championships, which fans have compared to a similar picture from when Rollins was NXT Champion and CM Punk was WWE Champion.
The point is, Rollins now has two allies, and who else has two allies? Finn Balor of course, in the form of Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio.
Priest and Mysterio are set for their own matches at Money in the Bank, with Priest in the Money in the Bank ladder match itself and Mysterio set to face Cody Rhodes, but the opportunity is at least there for a six-man tag match with Judgment Day against Rollins, Hayes and Williams.
It shouldn’t be ruled out because WWE has made an effort to ensure there’s been plenty of NXT/main roster crossovers recently, with Hayes and Williams having already been introduced to the main roster audience a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown as part of Hayes’ feud with Baron Corbin.
Nothing was announced or even hinted at besides Rollins having two guys save him and stay by his side, but the chance to book a big three-on-three match is right there to capitalize on, so maybe it’ll happen. It sounds pretty great, so it probably should.
