WWE SmackDown announcer Pat McAfee has become a beloved member of the WWE family since he first took seat behind the desk next to Michael Cole last year.
McAfee is, of course, a duel-sports star, and yesterday he announced that he had signed a full-time deal with ESPN and will host it’s ‘College GameDay’ show.
The original report noted that McAfee’s new venture would not affect his role on SmackDown, but it appears that will actually not be the case.
Triple H took to Twitter today to congratulate McAfee on his new deal, saying that he will ‘look forward’ to McAfee’s return once the college football season is over.
.@PatMcAfeeShow approached us about his amazing opportunity with College GameDay. We’d never stand in Pat’s way, as he continues to architect his exceptional career.
Pat will remain a member of the @WWE Universe and we look forward to his return. #UpToSomethingSZN
It has not been announced who will be stepping in to replace McAfee next to Michael Cole during his time away from WWE. If Vince McMahon was still here it would probably just be Corey Graves, but we shall wait and see.
