Shawn Spears made a big surprise return on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT and now his real-life wife Peyton Royce (Cassie Lee) has reacted.
Taking to Twitter to share her thoughts, Cassie Lee (formerly known as Peyton Royce in WWE) responded to the shock return.
Lee wrote simply:
“Home sweet home”
Shawn Spears previously appeared in WWE including NXT from 2013-2019 before signing with AEW where he was employed for the past four years.
Lee was also in WWE from 2015-2019.
The big reveal of Spears’ return came as an interruption to an in-ring segment featuring Ridge Holland on tonight’s NXT.
After the lights turned off and the screens filled with white text – the same as the recent “three faces” teases – a shrouded figure was seen before he hit Holland with a chair.
It was Shawn Spears, joining the likes of CM Punk and Cody Rhodes making a return to WWE after a foray to AEW.
Commentary did repeatedly call him Shawn Spears, the name he used in AEW, not his former WWE name Tye Dillinger.
Cassie Lee is currently pregnant with the couples’ second child, having previously given birth to a baby boy in January 2023.
