On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Edge was shockingly kicked out of his Judgment Day faction, with Finn Balor apparently taking his place as head of the group.
Both Fightful Select and PWInsider have confirmed Edge is now listed as a babyface on Raw, so it will be very interesting to see how that goes in the coming weeks.
As to why Edge was so unceremoniously kicked from the group, it could well be down to creative differences backstage between Edge and WWE’s creative team.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE had suggested that the group should take a more “supernatural” route, which if you’ve seen WWE in the past 10 years, will come as no surprise.
The report states that Edge was opposed to this, and reports started coming out of WWE just a few hours before Raw went on air that something to do with Judgment Day, Edge and Finn Balor would be happening on the show.
Fightful notes the pitch for Balor to join the group came a long time before this week’s show, and that their sources told them Finn was set to turn heel and join the faction. They note there was no mention at that point of Edge leaving the group.
We’ll have to see how Edge responds to his removal on next week’s Raw.
