The real reason former TNT Champion Wardlow has been off AEW TV for the past several weeks has been revealed.
Wardlow has been absent since the December 28 ‘New Year’s Smash’ edition of Dynamite where he lost to Samoa Joe in the main event.
After the match, Joe attacked Wardlow and cut off his ponytail.
Wardlow hasn’t been seen since then, and the reason for that was revealed in today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
According to Dave Meltzer, Wardlow’s absence is due to an injury issue, and the reason for the post-match angle with Joe was for Wardlow to be written off TV to recover.
Meltzer mentioned the injury isn’t expected to keep Wardlow out of action for a long time, but it has done from December 28 until now.
We wish Wardlow the best for his recovery.
