Rather surprisingly, WWE booked a Hell in a Cell match on Monday Night Raw last night between Bobby Lashley and Xavier Woods, and we now know why.
On his Fightful post-Raw review, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that he had heard that the USA Network wanted a Hell in a Cell match on Raw after FOX got one between Rey Mysterio and Roman Reigns on SmackDown last week:
“I heard about this shortly before it was announced, and I heard that USA wanted one (a Hell in a Cell match) since FOX got one.”

PWInsider is also reporting that one of the main reasons WWE put Hell in a Cell matches on Raw and SmackDown was to give the company’s TV networks “something extra”.
The report also notes that another reason why WWE booked the Hell in a Cell matches on TV over the last week was to “try and grab fans’ attention”, with the company set to return to touring next month.
