If you tuned into last night’s AEW Dynamite you will have noticed Tony Schiavone was absent from commentary and here’s the reason why.
Schiavone was not kept off because he’d tested positive for COVID-19, but instead because test results had not yet returned, so the promotion kept him away as a precautionary measure.
This is something that commentary did mention at the start of the show, and they also noticed Schiavone was not experiencing any symptons.
Schiavone was replaced by both Taz and Chris Jericho in joining Jim Ross and Excalibur on commentary throughout the show. Taz started off but left partway through the show ahead of Brian Cage’s title match against Jon Moxley, after which Jericho replaced him after having orange juice dumped on him in the ring by Orange Cassidy.
Schiavone also didn’t host the Fight for the Fallen post-show as he usually would have, being replaced by Spanish commentator Alex Abrahantes.
