Former WWE Champion Big E was quietly moved back to the SmackDown roster to reunite with Kofi Kingston and Big E last month, meaning the entire New Day will be back together once King Woods returns from injury.
Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that the reason behind WWE reuniting the New Day is that Vince McMahon ‘missed the magic that they created together’.
However, McMahon was also reportedly the one adamant that the trio be split up in the previous two drafts, as he believed that a top babyface (Big E) should be on their own in most situations. Pitches were made to keep them together despite that, but none came to be.
In an interesting note, Vince McMahon reportedly also adamant for Big E and Kofi Kingston to be announced as ‘Big E and Kofi Kingston’ rather than ‘New Day’, which didn’t get through internally or on the company’s YouTube, as they were listed as New Day on both.
