Report: Bray Wyatt Will Sign For AEW

CM Punk made his return to professional wrestling on last night’s (August 20) AEW Rampage show. Along with him, the belief is that Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) will follow suit next month.

It was reported yesterday that AEW were expected to make another ‘major acquisition’ alongside the arrivals of Punk and Danielson, and that person’s identity appears to have been revealed.

Dave Meltzer spoke on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, and said that Bray Wyatt, who was released from WWE on July 31, will join the promotion.

Meltzer said:

“From here (Punk’s debut), we’re going to see. And he’s (Punk) obviously not the only return. We’re going to see a lot of different people coming up, including Bray Wyatt, so let me get that out of the way.”

Meltzer continued on, stating that while nothing was official as of yet, the strong belief is that Bray Wyatt will end up in AEW. He added:

“It’s not 100%, his non-compete’s not up, but it’s most likely happening. It’s at the same stage as when I said Aleister Black long before it happened. It’s not, I don’t think there’s pen to paper or anything like that but it’s an expectation that’s pretty strong, let’s put it that way”

Wyatt’s non-compete clause expires on October 29, so he will not be popping up on Dynamite or Rampage before that date.
