CM Punk and Bryan Danielson were AEW’s two major signings earlier this year, with Punk being brought in on the August 20 episode of AEW Rampage, and Danielson making his debut at AEW All Out in September.
Ric Flair recently started his new ‘Wooooo Nation’ podcast, with the first episode set to drop tomorrow (November 17), but the Nature Boy shared a preview on his Twitter account earlier today, where he was asked about Punk and Danielson debuting for AEW.
Flair agrees that both men are major stars in the world of wrestling, but questions why the ratings have not climbed much since their arrival in AEW.
Flair said:
“Well, if I’m looking at the ratings, I don’t know what (CM Punk and Bryan Danielson) have contributed to. Yes, as you said, they’re certainly both big stars in the business, both had a lot of success, but I don’t know how to answer that question because all you can do, as we do with football or any other show, is look at the ratings. I mean, I think they’ll go up, but to me, that show should never do less than 1.1 million,” Flair added. “If they get there once, bring in all this talent, and then go back (under 1 million), then there’s something wrong.”
Flair also made news on his Twitter account last night, when he responded to Becky Lynch’s promo on Raw about his daughter Charlotte Flair ahead of their clash at Survivor Series.
