After an intense schedule due to WrestleMania, one major SmackDown star has announced in advance of the show that he will not be in attendance.
Taking to Twitter to thank WWE for the weekend off, Ricochet posted a sweet message, writing:
“A champion not only defends his title in the ring, he defends & protects his family. Thank you @WWE for giving this champion some time to spend with my son this weekend. After whooping Los Lotharios on Wrestlemania Smackdown, some R&R with MY champ is exactly what I need.”
Ricochet went on to clarify in an additional tweet that he would not be at SmackDown today but will be “back next week, better than ever!”
While Ricochet successfully defended his Intercontinental Title on the April 1 go-home edition of SmackDown against Los Lotharios, many were puzzled at the IC champ not appearing on the card for either night of WrestleMania.
Also head-scratchingly absent from WrestleMania 38 was United States Champion, Finn Balor who similarly to Ricochet continues to hold championship gold but missed out of performing on the grandest stage of them all.
Your Intercontinental Champ won’t be at Smackdown today, but I will be back next week, better than ever! ♥️🙏🏽 https://t.co/xdUDThhp9a
