WWE Changes Major WrestleMania 40 Plans Involving The Rock, Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes WWE

On tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown, an appearance from The Rock as he came face-to-face in the ring with Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

With 2024 Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes set to reveal which champion he’s choosing to face at WrestleMania 40, first, Roman Reigns fired some shots at Seth Rollins, who had been trying to convince Rhodes to challenge Rollins instead of Reigns.

As Rhodes then came out and was poised to reveal his WrestleMania plans, he explained that he still wants Roman Reigns’ championship as that’s the title that ties into his story and his father Dusty.

Cody said that he’s still planning on coming for Reigns’ title… but not at WrestleMania.

Rhodes noted that one of the individuals he had sought advice from knew Roman Reigns very well, he then introduced ‘The Rock’ Dwayne Johnson.

After Rhodes and Rock hugged in the ring, Rhodes left, and Rock and Roman had a stare off in front of the crowd.

The show went off the air with the pair still engaged in a face-to-face standoff, while at the same time, a graphic was shown on-screen promoting a WrestleMania 40 ‘Kickoff’ “press event” in Las Vegas this coming Thursday.

WWE had been planning for Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes as recently as last week, but it looks like the direction has changed.

While not confirmed ‘officially’, it looks it’ll be Roman Reigns vs The Rock, and Cody Rhodes vs Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

Rollins had been planned for a match against CM Punk, but Punk suffered an injury during the Royal Rumble match and was ruled out of Mania.
