Sami Zayn Slams ‘Wild’ Assumptions Over Saudi Arabia & WWE Night Of Champions

Sami Zayn Slams ‘Wild’ Assumptions Over Saudi Arabia & WWE Night Of Champions WWE

Sami Zayn made his long-awaited WWE Saudi Arabia PLE debut at Night of Champions on Saturday, May 27 2023 in the main event of the show.

His appearance in Jeddah was well received before and after the premium live event, with fans giving him an ovation.

Zayn addressed his visit to Saudi Arabia in the run up to the show and has recently addressed the speculation over his previous non-attendance of WWE’s major shows in Saudi Arabia (his last had been a 2014 house show tour).

Speaking on the After the Bell with Corey Graves show, the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion discussed his plan, saying:

“It was a really, really, really kind of a heavy trip, to be honest. There was a lot that went into it.

“First of all, the fact that I haven’t been there in a few years, and that there’s been so much speculation as to why I’m not going and what’s the political reasoning, this and that.

“I won’t get into all of it, but I’ll tell you 99.9% of what you’ve read online about this subject, completely fabricated, people assuming things and then running with those assumptions and adding on to them. It’s wild. I think it’s anytime they can’t get a concrete answer, that’s kind of what tends to happen. I think that’s like human nature, almost.”

He was also reveal that it’s been a while since he was last in the Middle East, stating:

“It’s been years since I’ve been back to the Middle East. I think the last time I was there was 20, maybe 16, in Dubai, possibly, so it’s been a little while.”

Footage was recently shared on social media of Becky Lynch’s reaction to seeing Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships in the main event at Night of Champions.

In the main event, Zayn & Owens retained against The Bloodline (Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa) in a match that saw Jimmy Uso turn on the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

The premium live event opened with Seth Rollins defeating AJ Styles to become the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

His first title defense will take place this weekend at a WWE Supershow that will also feature Zayn & Owens in action.
