Sasha Banks is undeniably one of the greatest female stars ever to have graced a WWE ring, but there was a time after WrestleMania 35 in 2019 when she seriously considered leaving the promotion.
Banks has been very open about her struggles in 2019, which coincided with a serious shoulder injury. She has revealed in the past that she struggled with depression at the time, and has now gone into further detail during an interview with the Athletic.
She said:
“I felt so sad every day and I didn’t know why. I had to take myself away from a situation and such a fast world where I had to stop and realize who Mercedes was and who Sasha Banks was. I had no time off. I never got to see myself, my family. I took that time to figure out what I loved besides wrestling.”
She was asked whether she has any plans to do any more acting, after she famously appeared in the second series of the Mandalorian on Disney+. She replied:
“I see The Rock as maybe the biggest global superstar, and John Cena is coming right behind him. It would be cool to see a woman step into that level. I think with Sasha Banks and Mercedes Varnado right there, I think the stars are aligned for me.”
Thankfully, Banks has remained injury free for some time now, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for everyone in our WWE injury tracker. Check it out here.
