Details On Mercedes Mone/Sasha Banks Talks With WWE Before AEW Debut Revealed AEW/WWE

Details have been revealed regarding the former Sasha Banks having talks with WWE before Mercedes Mone made her debut in AEW tonight.

There was reportedly a period of time that the former Sasha Banks, Mercedes Mone, was in talks with WWE.

After Mercedes Mone suffered a potentially career threatening ankle injury during the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship match against Willow Nightingale, she required multiple surgeries.

During that time out of action, as reported by Fightful Select, she was able to vet discussions from both All Elite Wrestling and WWE as there are reports that the two sides did engage in talks.

After her injury, Mone was not signed with AEW when she appeared at All In in the crowd in August, despite a general understanding that the two would be working together.

However when talks broke down with AEW after that, there was conversation regarding returning to WWE – however it seems the two sides couldn’t come to terms.

At the time, WWE sources reported to Fightful Select that conversation had been friendly, WWE wished Mone the best in the future, but that the company expected she was to sign elsewhere imminently.

In the end, Mone elected to sign with All Elite Wrestling well in advance of her actual debut tonight, March 13 in Boston.

While there was some talk about her potentially debuting in January, AEW elected to wait until tonight due to her not being near medically cleared a couple of months ago.
