A new report has provided an update regarding the status of the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view which was scheduled for next month.
Money in the Bank this year was originally set for May 16, but WWE announced during Raw this past Monday that WrestleMania Backlash will take place on that date instead.
According to Ringside News, which has had many of its reports confirmed by the likes of Fightful and Dave Meltzer in recent times, Money in the Bank will now take place on June 20.
June 20 is the date that Backlash was originally scheduled for, so WWE basically just switched the shows around – the dates are the same.
Backlash has traditionally been the post-WrestleMania pay-per-view throughout WWE history, but last year MITB came first in May and then Backlash in June.
Now called WrestleMania Backlash for some reason, one match that has already been confirmed is Bobby Lashley once again defending the WWE Title against Drew McIntyre.
Last year’s Money in the Bank saw competitors in both the men’s and women’s matches brawling through WWE Headquarters to the roof, with Asuka and Otis winning the briefcases.
Asuka was given the Raw Women’s Title by default due to Becky Lynch relinquishing it because of her pregnancy, while Otis ended up losing his briefcase to The Miz who cashed it in to become WWE Champion for just eight days.
