Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga officially left Solo Sikoa’s MFT faction on tonight’s June 26 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Over the past couple of years, after breaking away from The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa started his own new group known as MFT or The MFTs, standing for My Family Tree.
This group until just a couple of months ago consisted of Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga.
However, in April, Mateo and Loa were released by WWE as part of the annual post-WrestleMania talent cuts.
That left just Sikoa, Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, but as of tonight, Sikoa is now all on his own.
For the past few months, tensions had been building within The MFTs, between Sikoa and Tama Tonga in particular.
Last week on WWE SmackDown, these issues came to a head when Sikoa accidently cost Tama and Talla their WWE Tag Team Championship match against Damian Priest and R-Truth.
Also, on Raw this past Monday, Sikoa popped up on Raw and helped LA Knight pick up a win against Jimmy Uso.
This week, Tama and Talla declared that they’d had enough and were finally leaving Sikoa.
What’s Next For Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga
After Tama and Talla Tonga left Solo Sikoa, there were some interesting developments later in the show on both sides.
With Sikoa now on his own, he was looking for a new ally in the man he helped on Monday’s Raw – LA Knight.
Sikoa declared that he hates the Bloodline and his family, and he and Knight have that in common, so they should work together to try and take everyone in the Bloodline out, including Jacob Fatu, The Usos and even Roman Reigns.
Knight acknowledged that he also hates the Bloodline, and he does need some backup in order to take them out, but he declined Sikoa’s offer because he can’t trust him to not do what the Usos did and end up back with the Bloodline eventually.
In regards to Tama and Talla Tonga, they had an interesting backstage interaction with Finn Balor, where Balor and Tama acknowledged their past alliance in NJPW.
While Balor seemed to be hinting at rekindling their relationship, Tama mentioned that he had a history in Japan with Shinsuke Nakamura as well, and he took Nakamura out a number of weeks ago.
The camera lingered on Balor as Tama and Talla Tonga walked away, suggesting there’ll be more to come from this story in the coming weeks.
