A WWE star has reflected on their tag-team split following a recent betrayal, calling it the end of an era.

Following Nikki Bella’s ankle injury, Paige replaced the Hall of Famer in the Women’s Tag Team Championship four-way at WWE WrestleMania 42, teaming with Brie Bella to win the gold.

Paige and Brie Bella reigned as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions for 91 days, successfully defending the title three times ahead of losing the gold to Fatal Influence at the July 18 Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

Their partnership officially came to an end following Paige, Brie and Nikki Bella losing to Fatal Influence at SummerSlam, with Nikki and Brie attacking Paige after the match.

While Nikki has addressed attacking Paige on WWE TV, Brie has now looked back on what she views as the closing of a chapter.

Following Nikki Bella claiming to have single handedly revitalised Paige’s career on last week’s SmackDown episode, Paige responded on Friday’s (August 14) episode, noting that Nikki is just jealous that somebody else took her spot.

Regardless of what happens in Nikki and Paige’s rivalry, Brie Bella won’t be physically involved for a while, after suffering a broken scapula (shoulder blade) during the SummerSlam match.

Brie recently confirmed that she’s expecting to be out of action for three to six months, noting that she is set to go for X-ray scans every two weeks to make sure she’s healing.

The match during which Brie Bella suffered her injury was also Nikki Bella’s first match since suffering a broken ankle in March.

With the duo previously expressing their goal to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship together, the sisters have a year and some change to make this happen, with Nikki recently revealing plans to retire at the end of 2027.

A current WWE star has pitched themselves as the star to retire Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Paige, pushing for a female legend killer gimmick. Click here to read more.
