Brie Bella has shared an update on her recovery timeline and expected return date after suffering an injury at WWE SummerSlam.
During Paige, Nikki and Brie Bella’s six-woman tag-team match against Fatal Influence, Brie suffered an injury which required her to go to hospital for scans following the match.
With Brie Bella recently confirming that she broke her scapula (shoulder blade), the Hall of Famer has revealed how long she is expected to be out of action for.
Speaking on the Nikki & Brie Show, Brie Bella noted that she will be out for three to six months.
Discussing her recovery, Brie explained:
“(The orthopedic surgeon) was like ‘It’s really hard to break your scapula. No one does surgery on scapulas.’ If you really want it, there is one doctor that can do it, but honestly, it’s like breaking your ribs in a way, you just wait until they slowly heal.
“That’s what I have to do. With that, I have to get X-rays every two weeks to make sure I am healing. I don’t start PT for another two weeks, so they really want me to be bedridden.
“Then from there, I’m out three to six months. It all depends how my scapula heals. I like to think us Bellas, our bones heal quick, but the scapula is kind of a tricky one.”

While all injuries are unfortunate, the timing of Brie getting hurt was especially so, with that SummerSlam match marking Nikki Bella’s in-ring return, after recovering from a broken ankle which she suffered in March.
Nikki’s injury kept her out of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship four-way which Brie and Nikki’s replacement Paige ultimately won.
The Bella Twins have made it no secret that their dream is to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship together.
With Nikki Bella recently stating that she plans to retire at the end of 2027, going after the tag titles could be the first thing we see the Bella Twins do once Brie is cleared to return.
We wish Brie Bella a safe and healthy recovery.
