A title change took place at tonight’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico special episode of AEW Dynamite in Arena Mexico.
On last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun of the Demand captured the AEW World Trios Championship from the Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong.
The Demand’s first defence of their titles was set to take place on tonight’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico special episode of Dynamite, with the trio defending the titles against the trio of ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, Brody King and Bandido.
‘Hangman’ Adam Page & Brodido Win AEW Trios Championship
It would turn out that the Demand’s title reign would only last for one week, as Page and Brodido picked up the win to become the new AEW Trios Champions, ending the short reign of the Demand.
This is Bandido’s first ever reign as AEW World Trios Champion, while it is the second reign with the titles for both ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and Brody King, with Hangman winning the titles earlier this year alongside Kevin Knight and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, while Brody held the titles back in 2023 as part of the House of Black with Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews.
Page is no longer able to challenge for the AEW World Championship following his loss to MJF at AEW Revolution, with him turning his attention instead to the trios titles.
AEW All In Spreads It’s Star Power
With AEW’s biggest show of the year, All In London at Wembley Stadium, now just weeks away, the card for the show is beginning to take shape in what is looking to be one of the most exciting nights of the year.
On tonight’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico special, MJF made his return to AEW TV for the first time since Beach Break, where he lost the AEW World Championship to Kenny Omega.
MJF attacked Andrade El Idolo, who had qualified for the Casino Gauntlet at All In with his victory on the show, with MJF seemingly set to join him in the match.
Alongside MJF’s appearance in the Gauntlet, and Hangman now reigning as Trios Champion, AEW recently announced the Continental Cup final that will take place at All In, which will likely feature current Continental Champion Jon Moxley competing in the match.
While Tony Khan has indeed created a stacked top of the card for Wembley, what is perhaps even more impressive is that three former All In headliners have added additional fire power to what would typically be lower card matches on the show.
