AEW’s ‘Rebel’ Tanea Brooks Reacts To Kevin Owens’ Comments About Her After WWE SummerSlam 2026

AEW star Rebel – Tanea Brooks – has sent a message to WWE’s Kevin Owens following his comments about her following SummerSlam.

Kevin Owens made his wrestling return during the August 2 show, winning the Undisputed WWE Championship #1 contender’s four-way after 17 months away from the ring.

During the SummerSlam post-show, Owens thanked a number of individuals following his return. About “Rebel” Tanea Brooks, the new WWE Title #1 contender said:

“When things were tough and things weren’t looking great, I would look around me at what could help me get through the tough times. There’s somebody called Tanea Brooks, who’s known to wrestling fans as Rebel.

“She has not wrestled here, but some things are bigger than wrestling. She’s currently battling ALS, and the way she’s doing it is so incredible.

“I looked at her and what she was going through, and the way she powered through it, and it was truly inspirational.”

Brooks has now taken to Twitter to respond to Kevin Owens, telling him that she’s proud of him for fighting through everything and making his return.

She wrote:

“🫶🏼❤️ thank you KO. I am proud of your return and you fighting through it to get there. Never Stop giving your everything because you are right, it can be taken away in a second.”

Brooks announced her ALS diagnosis on May 1 in an emotional video, during which she stated that she doesn’t know how long she has, and that she’s praying for a peaceful passing.

ALS – amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – is a disease which affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. You can read more about ALS right here.
