Another Title Change At WWE SummerSlam 2026

Another title change has taken place during night two of the WWE SummerSlam 2026 premium live event at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

It’s been a night of new champions being crowned and the penultimate match of the evening has seen another title change take place.

Chad Gable is the new Intercontinental Champion, defeating Penta tonight to win his first singles championship in WWE.

Penta had reigned as champion since early March when he won title from Dominik Mysterio.

Gable, in his hometown of Minneapolis tonight, made Penta tap out with the ankle lock to score the win and become IC Champion.

Tonight’s show had already played host to two new champions being crowned, with Baron Corbin winning the United States Title from Trick Williams, and then Chelsea Green becoming Interim WWE Women’s Champion as well.

Chad Gable Finally Gets His Chance In WWE

After over 10 years, Chad Gable is finally getting his chance to shine as a singles champion in WWE.

Ever since his days with Jason Jordan as American Alpha in NXT, Gable displayed an incredible transition from Olympic wrestling to pro-wrestling.

During his time on the main roster, things have been start-stop for Gable, and in 2024 it finally seemed like he was going to et his big break, which led to him re-signing with the company instead of going to AEW, where he was very much a wanted man – but once again, it didn’t play out that way.

Ironically, it was an injury that paved the way for this big break, because that’s essentially what birthed the Ludwig Kaiser version of El Grande Americano that got over huge in Mexico and led to the highly praised mask vs mask match at Noche de Los Grandes.

Now that Gable has the IC Title, hopefully he gets a noteworthy reign and the chance to have some big matches against top names on the roster.
