WWE Star Addresses Title Loss, Teases Match Against Undisputed Champion CM Punk

Trick Williams has commented on his next move after losing the WWE United States Championship at SummerSlam.

The SmackDown star put his gold on the line against Baron Corbin during the August 2 SummerSlam night two show.

Following interference from Lil Yachty and a belt shot when the referee was turned away, Corbin pinned Williams to become the US Champion in his first televised match back with WWE.

Speaking with ESPN Houston, Trick Williams noted that he’s not sure what’s next for him, hinting that he could leave the US Championship picture.

Teasing a potential bout against Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk, Williams said:

“Look man, I’ve got some retribution to do. What does that look like? I’m not sure yet. Do I want the United States Championship? Maybe. Do I want something different? I had an encounter with CM Punk the night before.

“I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to set my attention to. I have a couple of days to think about it, but in the meantime, I went and picked me up a nice belt, iced out, blinged out from Icebox for about $45,000 to replace my old belt that I just lost.”

When asked if CM Punk is one of his dream opponents, Williams stated:

“Oh yeah, for sure. I mean, nothing but respect for CM Punk. He’s a GOAT, and any time you can share the ring with somebody who’s just done legendary things, had legendary moments, you want to sit next to legends as much as possible. I would love that match with CM Punk.”

Trick Williams would have to get in line, as there are a number of stars who currently have the Undisputed WWE Champion in their crosshairs.

Immediately, Kevin Owens is set to collide with Punk, having won a #1 contender’s match at SummerSlam. With Randy Orton costing Cody Rhodes his WWE Championship match against Punk on August 1, we could see both of these stars stake claims for Punk’s gold.

Meanwhile, Roman Reigns’ next World Heavyweight Championship challenger will be determined by a tournament set to feature the top luchadores from Raw, SmackDown and AAA.
