Wyatt Sicks Member Shares Honest Thoughts On WWE Booking: ‘They Didn’t Really Allow Us To Develop Individually’

A member of the Wyatts Sicks has opened up about a potential reason their momentum wasn’t carried through during their WWE tenure.

Debuting on the June 17 episode of WWE Raw in 2024, The Wyatts Sicks left a wake of destruction behind them as they made their presence felt.

They would go on to be regular fixtures on WWE television until they were collectively released from their contracts in April of this year.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the former Joe Gacy opened up about the reason he believes the faction lost its momentum, saying:

“I do feel like that if they allowed us to develop a little bit more individually, like even our first VHS tapes that were put out early on after the debut. I know Rowan had a chance, his VHS vignette was a little longer than ours.

“I filmed one where I cut a whole promo, and they just didn’t use it. They just had me humming and rocking back and forth. I just feel like if we had the chance to develop a little more, get a little bit more connection with the audience.”

Health issues would also play its part in the disruption, with the star now known as Joseph Sawyer discussing Taylor Rotunda (Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy) needing to take time off, explaining:

“Unfortunately, there was a time when Taylor had to take some time off because of a health issue. They kind of pushed pause on us, and I think that not allowing us to have that little development where we could have carried things on a little bit on our own… He took the time off; we could have still carried on and done stuff creatively without him, and then could have had a big moment when he came back.

“I think that was maybe the beginning, because I guess in their eyes, there the group was Taylor, which I do to an extent understand, but I think we just weren’t given the chance to develop ourselves so we could also become more of a presence in the group.”

Sawyer would also reveal that the faction were ‘surprised‘ to be released from their WWE contracts.

The Focal Point Of The Faction

Whether it’s The Bloodline, Bullet Club or the Inner Circle, factions have frequently had a leader, either official or otherwise. By contrast, for The Judgment Day, they may be leaderless by choice, but its iterations have often seen a star that is seemingly portrayed in a more prominent position than the others.

With The Wyatt Sicks, Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy was that star. A defacto leader, a charistmatic character and the brother of the late Bray Wyatt, after whom the faction drew inspiration beyond just the name.

To use The Bloodline as an example, thanks to its association with WWE, the faction has been able to continue despite the oocasional absence of Roman Reigns, either as an on-screen or in-ring competitor. The star has enjoyed a part-time contract over recent years, with comments made last year noting he had “another year or two max” before moving to something less physical.

Hearing Sawyer suggest that Wyatt Sicks wasn’t able to develop in the way it perhaps should does call into question the purpose of the faction in the eyes of WWE creative. It would be quite the situation to have its entire existence based on a single star, particularly with the variety that the members could have offered in the right circumstances.
